Cat Friendly Staff!

Cat Friendly Certified Staff and Practice Mean Less Stressful Cat Exams

As you may know, for years now, West Towne Veterinary Center has met the requirements to be named a Cat Friendly Practice by the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP). We are excited to announce that our team members will be taking their exams to be AAFP certified Cat Friendly Veterinary Professionals. From the front desk to each veterinary assistant and veterinarian, you can be assured that each team member practices Cat Friendly principles. Cat Friendly practices and professionals are trained to reduce stress to cats during their veterinary visit. This is encompassed by having a separate cat entrance and waiting area, avoiding loud sounds and music, and having a Feliway towel placed over your cat’s carrier as they wait. In the exam room, cat interactions are minimized and only two staff members are permitted to be in the exam room at one time (for most circumstances). Letting your cat choose a comfortable position for blood draws and injections is also part of our Cat Friendly Principles. Our clinic goals and philosophy align with Cat Friendly principles, and we are so glad that the AAFP Cat Friendly certificates are now available for all veterinary staff. We aim to make each visit as stress free as possible for your cat. Reducing stress at veterinary visits is not only beneficial during the exam, but in the long term, limiting stress around visits can make it easier for cats to be transported and veterinary exam compliance increases.
